Kinesio Taping

All about the healing tape

With the so-called “Kinesio-Tape” you can cure injuries, inhibit inflammation and loosen muscles.

This special patch was developed about 30 years ago by the Japanese chiropractor Kenzo Kase. Like a second skin, the tape stretches and contracts again without restricting freedom of movement. It has an analgesic and metabolism-stimulating effect.

How does the Kinesio tape work?

Due to the elastic tape, the skin is gently lifted and massaged with every movement, so lymphatic and blood flow are stimulated. Inflammation subsides faster, the pressure decreases and so does the pain, usually shortly after taping.

Finally, the Kinesio tape regulates muscle tone and supports the joints through a better perception of mobility and resilience.

When does the Kinesio tape help?

  • The elastic patches counteract a variety of complaints
  • Knee, ankle and shoulder joints
  • tense back and neck
  • Tennis and golf arms
  • Tenosynovitis
  • blunt injuries (such as muscle fiber tears, etc.)

Because the pain often subsides immediately, postures and subsequent problems such as tension are avoided.

It can even be useful to tape preventively: for example, if you train for a marathon, you can reduce the tendency to cramp with targeted calf taping.

Why not glue yourself, or let your partner help?

In order to achieve optimal effects, the skin and muscles must have a certain stretch when applying the tape. If you glue your own calf, you are already twisting yourself in such a way that this does not succeed.

The partner, like the person concerned, knows neither the exact anatomy of the body nor the functional relationships. It is not only taped where the pain is, but also on involved, but distant structures – in case of problems with the knee, so perhaps on the back.

Our goal with Kinesio Taping is not only to fix the current problems but also and above all the causes! This includes diagnostics and co-treatment by doctors.
